This report assesses the courses of action of Afghanistan's neighbors and their importance for the country's evolution toward a stable state. It examines how Afghanistan has historically been impacted by neighboring states and analyzes the regional political and economic relations. The author explores the motives behind Iranian and Pakistani influence, briefs the stakes and parameters of engagement for other bordering countries and discusses the international community's contribution.
