The four articles in this edition of the CTC Sentinel focus on 1) whether the strength of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq is waning or waxing; 2) the continuing threat of al-Shabaab to Somalia; 3) what the new leadership of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), commonly referred to as the Pakistani Taliban, means for the group's future; and 4) what the criminal case against Aws Mohammed Younis al-Jayab in the US demonstrates about transnational prosecutions of jihadi foreign fighter networks. The edition also includes an interview with the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict Mark Mitchell.
