The four articles in this edition of the CTC Sentinel focus on 1) whether the strength of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq is waning or waxing; 2) the continuing threat of al-Shabaab to Somalia; 3) what the new leadership of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), commonly referred to as the Pakistani Taliban, means for the group's future; and 4) what the criminal case against Aws Mohammed Younis al-Jayab in the US demonstrates about transnational prosecutions of jihadi foreign fighter networks.
