How will Southeast Asia’s rising energy demands impact the region’s pursuit of both nuclear and renewable energy? While Vietnam has emerged as a vocal advocate of nuclear power, the author of this commentary questions the region’s overall ability to manage this form of energy in the near- to mid-term. That’s why he believes ASEAN countries should continue to rely on their natural fossil fuel resources and also pursue coordinated renewable energy programs.
