This paper examines post-Cold War thinking about nuclear weapons in France. It identifies the key elements of French nuclear policy to be dissuasion, no nuclear warfighting, European defense and disarmament. The author analyzes the French nuclear arms politics and considers the possibility of multinational nuclear arms control.
