This paper provides a concise overview of the most important innovations introduced by the Treaty of Lisbon, comparing it at the same time to the abandoned Constitutional Treaty. Before addressing the Treaty’s substance, the author comments on how agreement was reached on the text. The paper concludes that the Treaty of Lisbon does contain certain elements to increase citizens' interest in EU decision-making.
