This paper addresses the state and development of China and India's economic and trade relations, commenting on an Indian refusal to enter into a free trade agreement. It explores China's growing share in regional and bilateral trade, reviews the danger of the country dominating the entire region and points to the costs and losses incurred by trade barriers. Subsequently, it sheds light on the failure of India's pharmaceutical industry to penetrate the Chinese market. The author calls upon China to match India and lower the existing trade barriers.
