This short article asks whether the 21st century will be an Asian one and whether it would be essentially different from the European 20th century. The paper looks at the achievements and disasters of the 20th century, discusses whether Asian values are distinct from Western ones and underlines the tradition of cultural, religious and ethnic pluralism in Asia. The author states that religious fundamentalism is the main danger to Asian pluralism.
