This report is based on CASIN's participation in the events organized parallel to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. It focuses on the Public Eye Awards, the Open Forum and civil society's impact, with particular emphasis on topics of highest concern to nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), including climate change, water shortages, famine and human rights. The author concludes that the Open Forum has lost much of its old subversive tone since it is co-organized by the WEF. The Public Eye Awards remain, according to her, more controversial given that they offer awards to "misbehaving" multinational corporations.
