This paper summarizes a November 2007 RSIS conference on developments in the various national defense industrial bases around the world. The paper focuses on the capacity of these bases to contribute to national revolutions in military affairs (RMAs) in particular as well as the global RMA in general. It examines the technologies relevant to the RMA, the dependence of some countries on importing these technologies so as to engage in the RMA and the effects of globalization on the RMA.
