This CTTA issue includes three articles on the effects of terrorist activities in East/West Africa. More specifically, the articles examine 1) how Boko Haram’s alignment with the Islamic State has led to an increase in terrorist attacks and recruitment in Nigeria; 2) the economic implications of terrorism, as illustrated by Al-Shabab’s efforts to disrupt the Uganda–Kenya Crude Oil Pipeline (UKCOP) project; and 3) the growing presence of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) in West Africa.
