This paper examines the ongoing attempt of Southeast Asian nations to implement ASEAN’s Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution. Basically, ASEAN members are willing to address this regional problem, but they need to pursue more strategic and sustainable fixes, including implementing an insurance scheme for forest fire control and imposing discriminatory transaction taxes on palm oil plantations.
