This publication discusses the European Commission's vision for an integrated European border managment system. The authors outline and assess the planned EU entry/exit system, which is part of a package presented by the Commission on 13 February 2008. It is argued that the proposed measures are not proportional, that they are likely to offend data protection regulation and may even contradict with fundamental rights. The authors recommend that the Commission revises the plan in light of these defects.
