This paper assesses the key issues, themes and actors of Malaysia's twelfth general election. The author examines the main parties in Malaysia and discusses the factor of political Islam. The paper predicts that the hold on parliament of the Barisan Nasional (BN) is likely to be eroded, although it will probably retain its two-thirds majority.
