This paper analyzes how China perceives the US' effort to build up its missile defenses. The author examines how China assesses and is attempting to respond to US arms developments, and discusses the policy implications and potential environmental changes as a result of China's responses. The author concludes with an overview of the policy implications of the Sino-American arms competition for Asia.
