This paper examines the 2008 state of the EU-Russia relationship. It argues that the lack of mutual understanding has led to chronic and growing political problems and crises between the parties. The author sees an advantage for Russia in the lack of cooperation and supports the view that the EU should seek to reinvigorate its approach to Russia.
