This paper considers the growing inflationary pressure in the South Asian countries of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan, commenting on the price hikes in fuel and non-fuel commodities. It develops inflation scenarios for the region and the above mentioned countries, discusses near term inflation expectations and highlights fiscal and monetary measures to contain inflation. The author argues that inflation control should receive priority over growth in South Asia.
