What are Russia’s policies towards the Baltic Sea Region (BSR)? How have these policies altered since Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the election of President Trump in the US? In this publication, Alexander Sergunin provides a Russian perspective on these issues and more by looking at 1) Russia’s national interests in the region; 2) Russian policy discourse and security doctrine relating to the BSR; 3) the political, economic, sub-regional, environmental and military aspects of Russia’s strategy in the BSR; and 4) Moscow’s multilateral diplomacy efforts in the region.
