This publication outlines how East Asia is particularly vulnerable to economic shocks, and how the slowing global economy risks fragmenting both social consensus within the region’s nations and cooperation between them. To respond to such risks, the author recommends that countries in the region should 1) improve opportunities for marginalized communities; 2) promote the growth of social institutions; 3) improve the capacities of cities to predict and prepare for crises, and more.
