The four articles in this edition of the CTC Sentinel focus on 1) how al-Qa`ida lost control of its Syrian affiliate, Jabhat al-Nusra; 2) the United Arab Emirates-led efforts to counter al-Qa`ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and build security in south Yemen; 3) how Hezbollah promotes a culture of martyrdom among its followers; and 4) the US Homeland Security Investigations’ cooperative efforts with Europol to identify returning foreign fighters and prevent terrorist attacks. The issue also features an interview with Neil Basu, Senior National Coordinator for Counterterrorism Policing in the United Kingdom.
