The three articles in this issue of the CAD focus on the middle classes in the South Caucasus. The first piece looks at how Armenia’s middle class perceives itself, as illustrated in representative surveys. The second article posits that Georgia’s ‘middle class’ is both a concept and cohort that’s still largely in the making. Finally, the last text argues that middle class identity in Azerbaijan goes beyond a mere interplay between material wealth, education and one’s occupation.
