May 2019
This publication contends that three main factors will determine the future structure of the European Parliament: 1) the outcome of the 2019 European Parliament elections; 2) how the newly elected Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) from different national parties organize themselves within supranational political groups, and 3) the unfolding of the Brexit process. In response, the text’s authors examines these developments, and argue that everything points towards some significant changes – and a considerable degree of uncertainty – in the new parliament.
