Nov 2017

This report examines US trade policy during the first ten months of Donald Trump’s presidency, up to early November 2017. The text’s authors find that Trump has already implemented many of the pledges he made on trade during the 2016 presidential election. However, they also contend that many of the expectations accompanying these pledges have not been fulfilled so far. This is not so much to do with internal opposition within the US but resistance from the country’s major trade partners, something the authors believe could lead to an international trade war.
