This Crisis Group report analyzes the current situation in Cameroon, where protests and strikes related to sectoral demands have escalated into a political crisis over the marginalization of the country’s Anglophone minority. It also 1) highlights how the crisis’ roots lie in the country’s colonial legacy and reunification process; 2) outlines the crisis’ political, economic and social consequences; and 3) provides recommendations on what action the government and other actors should take to calm the situation in the country and avoid instability ahead of Cameroon´s 2018 general elections.
