This four articles in this edition of the CTC focuses on 1) the so-called Islamic State’s (IS) strategic pivot away from holding on to territory and towards the pursuit of an all-out insurgency; 2) what four 2017 terrorist attacks - carried out in Istanbul, St Petersburg, Stockholm and New York by ethnic Uzbeks - demonstrate about radicalization among the Central Asian diaspora; 3) IS’ external operations network hub in Libya and its links with supporters in Tunisia and across Western Europe; and 4) Boko Haram’s growing relations with al-Qaida.
