This paper analyzes the potential impact the Trump administration’s climate change policy might have on Southeast Asian states. We have to remember that while the latter have developed their own climate-related policies, the ability to implement the programs will depend on the financial and technical assistance provided by the United States, primarily via USAID. Well, if Trump makes good on his threat to withdraw the US from the recently ratified Paris Agreement and continues to appoint oil industry allies to important positions within his government, the US’ assistance may be long in coming.
