As the US looks toward developing policies for a post-ISIS Iraq, this report addresses the strategic importance of preventing violence between Kurdish factions in the country, which could involve a long-term US alliance with a strong Kurdish entity. In the case of the Peshmerga, the US would probably have to offer non-lethal aid in order to overcome lingering political and technical hurdles between the two entities.
