This doctoral thesis addresses conflict and cooperation issues relating to water resources in the eastern Nile basin. The author examines how large groups of people can use scarce resources in a cooperative and sustainable way. The thesis also examines water management practices in Egypt and Sudan and analyzes international perceptions towards water conflict issues in the eastern Nile basin.
