This paper analyzes the state of Sino-Russian relations amidst Russia’s ongoing confrontation with the West over Ukraine. While some analysts claim that China has used the Ukrainian crisis as an opportunity to weaken Russia’s position in Central Asia, others maintain that Moscow has grown increasingly dependent on Beijing, thus forcing the latter to adjust its own foreign policy. Ultimately, the paper’s author dismisses both these claims.
