This paper discusses the Singapore government’s recent ban of the ISIS-affiliated newspaper Al-Fatihin, which promoted self-radicalization within the country’s borders. The text’s author concludes that the measure is largely a quixotic one, given the abundance of propaganda materials that are available both on and offline. Because of the latter problem, the best option is to equip Muslim youths with critical and discerning minds, which will improve their ability to gauge the legitimacy and authority of the materials they confront online.
