This paper examines the changes Indonesian President Joko Widodo Jowoki made to his Working Cabinet in July 2016. According to the text’s author, the controversial reshuffle saw Jokowi drop a number of popular reformist ministers whose departure may negatively impact Indonesia’s economic growth and investment potential. So why did the housecleaning happen? Perhaps to balance the interests of the country’s different political parties, while also strengthening Jokowi’s own position for his 2019 re-election campaign.
