This publication contends that when it comes to Myanmar, India's strategic objectives include 1) integrating the country in its Act East policy; 2) challenging China’s decade-old dominance in the country, and 3) ending insurgencies in India’s northeast by dislodging insurgents from Myanmar's territory. The text’s author argues that to fulfill these objectives, India intends to strengthen bilateral defense ties with Myanmar. However, he also suggests that New Delhi must go beyond rhetoric and work on implementing real measures if it is to further its aims.
