This paper argues that the US is ill-prepared to deal with how climate change will lead to the displacement of people within the country. Indeed, the author claims there is no dedicated funding, lead agency or policy framework to assist communities in need of relocation. As a result, she 1) examines what part US private, philanthropic, and nonprofit sector actors play in relocation activities in the country; and 2) proposes the idea of a foundation-led effort to coordinate a relocation program that could provide expertise, support, and guidance to those in need.
