This paper addresses the situation of the global economy in 2003. The author reviews several economic developments including US current account adjustment, international exchange rate adjustment, Sino-US trade tensions, the increasing focus on international outsourcing and the stresses facing the multilateral trading round. He concludes that the same themes will influence international economic prospects in 2004.
