This brief addresses the Pakistani government's policy toward the country's Islamic fundamentalists, commenting on a decision to allow a conference in remembrance of the fighting for the Red Mosque in Islamabad in 2007. It summarizes the events of 2007, asks why the government took the decision to let the conference go ahead and points to increased terrorist activity.
