This paper probes the underlying causes and ‘accelerators’ of internal population displacements in Ethiopia. After highlighting five reasons for the dispersals, the text then explores how they have interacted with existing normative, institutional, collaborative, and financial deficiencies within the country. To reverse the overall displacement problem, the country’s stakeholders need to tap into ‘locally-informed ideas’ more aggressively.
