On the heels of President Moon Jae-In’s electoral victory in South Korea, this note explores the potential impact of his election on the country’s foreign policy. Although Moon would like to reinstate the ‘Sunshine Policy’ of the early 2000’s, which promoted a softer approach to the North Korean Regime, the note’s author argues that tensions will ultimately prevail. Also, domestic issues and bilateral relations with the US will quickly compete for the new administration’s attention.
