This paper analyzes the modern history of relations between Slovakia and Ukraine. It addresses political and economic relations, problematic issues, areas of common interest and opportunities for collaboration. The author argues that the two countries should work together more closely to prevent becoming part of a new "buffer zone" in Europe which may be created as a result of uneven process of European and transatlantic integration.
