This paper addresses the impact of changing borders on the social and economic lives of the border communities of Kosovo, Serbia and Macedonia. The publication assesses the border management regimes and their impact on security and local communities, and makes recommendations for the actors involved. The author states that the border regime provides both obstacles to legitimate movement and inadequate barriers to illegal movement.
