This paper examines whether the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) have made progress toward their aims of security and stability. It also explores India's role in that process. It summarizes ASEAN-Indian cooperation, reviews ASEAN-SAARC engagement and points to the benefits of inter-regional cooperation.
