This commentary discusses effective strategies to combat terrorism and extremism. The author exposes several countries that have developed programs to deal with the ideology of violent extremist organizations. The question of the rehabilitation of jihadis is presented against the background of a case study: the Religious Rehabilitation Group, formed to approach the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) members arrested in Singapore in December of 2001.
