This paper looks at the problem of human trafficking in Indonesia and the response by state and non-state actors. It delineates specific strategies employed by international and national actors to then examines the Indonesian government's response to the process of securitization. The author also looks at the domestic political context in which the securitization process has taken place, explaining why outcomes in Indonesia have not been adequate in combating the problem and suggesting an alternative path to securitization.
