This bulletin evaluates the results of Nepal's 2008 Constituent Assembly elections. The Communist Party of Nepal - a formerly banned terrorist organization - swept the polls and has placed the future of King Gyanendra's monarchy in doubt. The author highlights campaign strategies and voter demographics as instrumental in determining the election's outcome, and concludes by discussing some of the challenges that lie ahead for the newly elected Maoist government of Nepal.
