This brief argues that EU parliamentary elections scheduled for 4-7 June 2009 should be used to promote EU Treaty powers in the area of freedom, security and justice (AFSJ). The brief sets out 10 recommendations on key policy issues for political campaigns and their manifestos. The five main policy areas considered are borders, asylum, immigration, data protection and criminal justice.
