This brief examines the level of public support for 12 carbon capture and storage (CCS) demonstration plants planned by the EU to meet climate change reduction targets. The author argues that there exists a compelling case for the public to financially support CCS demonstration plants and explores funding sources. The brief concludes with a series of recommendations to expedite the construction of the plants.
