This report presents the criteria that should be fulfilled for Danish armed forces to participate in international operations. These are: 1) legitimacy through the UN; 2) civil and political support; 3) clearly defined tasks; 4) open communication; and 5) appropriate and sufficient resources. The author recommends implementing a requirement of majority support behind international operations, producing a policy document for participation in such operations and introducing a system of knowledge exchange between the operative and political levels of decision.
