This essay provides a brief overview of the US National Missile Defense (NMD) program through the lens of Chinese security perceptions. The author considers the US NMD issue specifically as well as the more general state of Sino-US security relations and how Beijing perceives their evolution. In closing, the author encourages Beijing and Washington to undertake substantive strategic talks to clarify outstanding security concerns.
