This publication scrutinizes the successes and failures of the Bush administration outlining how the Obama administration can learn from past policy mistakes to ameliorate relations with the Arab world. Topics examined include US-Arab and US-Islamist relations, democracy promotion in the Arab world, Iraq, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Darfur crisis, the Syrian question, Iran's nuclear ambitions as well as public opinion in Egypt. The authors represent an array of viewpoints, but agree on a key position: the Bush administration made costly missteps in its policy toward the Middle East, and the state of US relations with the region necessitates radical change.
