This paper discusses the role of the Specialist Corps within the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). The paper explains that while the SAF has embraced the concept of the 'strategic corporal,' much remains to be done. In the era of the 'CNN effect,' he explains, mission success depends as much on the political, cultural and ethical sensitivity of the strategic corporals as on their professionalism, technical expertise and martial prowess.
