This paper explores possible options for a new US foreign policy toward South Asia. The author examines to what extent President Barack Obama might depart from his predecessor George W Bush and rehyphenate US policies toward Islamabad and New Delhi as part of a new strategy toward the sub-continent as a whole in order to keep a balance of power between India and China.
