This paper examines the possibility of building an underground nuclear power plant in Singapore as part of the country's energy diversification strategy. The author outlines the opportunities and risks involved in building nuclear energy capacities in Singapore specifically and in the region as a whole, and notes that in an effort to minimize systemic risks ASEAN countries should cooperate actively in managing the growing sector. The author argues that nuclear power represents an increasingly popular and attractive solution to address issues of energy security and climate change.
